Ho, what a Night !

The Latter part of 1999 heralds an intense period of activity for the Pet shop Boys, with a brace of classic single, their best album yet, a headline appearance at Creamfield and their first UK tour for 9 years.

'New York City Boy', the new single, is one you're probably familiar with. A celebration of '70's disco, the track features an accompanying video shot, in part, to resemble a night at Studio 54, Manhattan's legendary night-club which defined club culture of the late '70's and early '80's. Featuring look a likes of Andy Warhol, Jerry Hall, Disco Sally (a Studio regular who was the most famous, (perhaps the only), disco-granny in New York) and, most notably, Bianca Jagger on a white horse on the nightclub dance-floor. Try that at Cream and see how long you last

Then, October 11 sees the release of the new Pet Shop Boys studio album 'Nightlife', a sterling collection of twelve new songs, co-produced by Pet Shop Boys with, variously, Craig Armstrong, Rollo and David Morales. Kylie Minogue guests on 'In Denial', a duet with Neil Tennant whilst 'Happiness Is An Option', the most recent song the Pets wrote,
is probably the only hip hop song to have been inspired by a piece of music by Rachmaninov. 'Nightlife' is already being hailed as the best album the Pet Shop Boys have ever made which, when you consider the genius of their previous work, is a great tribute to their song writing skills.

In December you can catch one of the most innovative, directional live shows of recent years when the Pet Shop Boys play their first UK tour for 9 years. Each of their previous tours has been ground-breaking and has spawned many imitations; this tour promises to be the most stunning yet, with a set designed by major architect Zaha Hadid and a brilliant selection of songs, both old and new.

Oh, and with all this talk of great music we forgot to mention the funny clothes..
