The Beautifully thing
Jonathan Harvey
was born in Liverpool and now lives in London. Jonathan's extensive writing
credits include 'The Cherry Blossom Tree' (Liverpool Playhouse Studio in
1987) which won him the National Giro bank Young Writer of the Year Award
1987, 'Babies'
(National Theatre
Studio and Royal Court), winner of George Devine Award 1993 and Evening
Standard's Most Promising Playwright Award 1994, 'Rupert Street Lonely Heart
Club' (English Touring Theatre; Contact Theatre Company; Don mar Warehouse
and Criterion Theatre, London), winner of Manchester Evening News Best Play,
'Boom Boom Bang-a-Bang' (Bush Theatre in 1995) and, of course, 'Beautiful
Thing' (Bush Theatre in 1993; Donmar Warehouse; Duke of York's Theatre,
London in 1994 and Cherry Lane Theatre, New York in 1999) and winner of
the John Whiting Award. His most recent credits include 'Hushabye Mountain'
(English Touring
Company in 1999) and 'Guiding Star' (NT Cottesbe in 1998). He is currently
working on a musical in partnership with the Pet Shop Boys. Television and
film work includes 'Beautiful Thing' (C4 'World Productions) and 'Gimme
Gimme Gimme' (Tiger Aspect I BBC) and in development 'Pink Card' (Rapido
Television), 'All in the Family' (Talkback), 'Sugar 'n' Spice' (BBC with
Meera Syal) and 'Leigh Bowery'
