The Pet Shop Boys live at the NEC, Birmingham, England in 1989

The first time I saw the Pets live was in 1989. We were right at the back and we could just about make out what was going on, but we were close to a big speaker. Oh boy, was my head splitting after that!

There was a few strange little touches that went to make this an amazing concert. There wasn't a support band - instead we where treated to some classical music! The concert was very different to anything I have seen before - but the evening went very well and the atmosphere was amazing. They performed many of their best tracks including One More Chance, Opportunities, Left To My Own Devices, Rent, Heart, Paninaro, Love Comes Quickly, Later Tonight, Nothing Has Been Proved, It's a Sin, Shopping, Domino Dancing, Kings Cross, Always On My Mind, and West End Girls.

The duo wore a number of amazing costumes during the show. Chris and Neil were dressed up in black PVC when they performed One More Chance. Then Chris came on in a full back leather gear and a red glittery helmet, and Neil wore a silver trench coat while they performed Opportunities. For It's A Sin, Neil dressed in a blue dressing gown and pink pyjamas, and Chris wore a luminous green sweater.

At the back of the stage there was a large projection video screen, which was used to show some video clips. There was one clip of Chris, and everyone screamed out comments like "Sexy Chris" - what a racket! I Joined in as well of course - I didn't want to be left out! The only letdown to this show was the video clips of bulling fighting during Domino Dancing, which did upset some people including me. :(

The show finished like a big party! The final track was It's Alright, and when this came on it was like being in a night club with the different color lights everywhere. What a show!
